That’s why there is a rat race going on to become a CPEng Australia all the world.

The following are the steps of the online Chartered application process to become a CPEng:

1.   First, you need to complete the Chartered Self Assessment, giving a competency rating against the Stage 2 Competency criteria.

2.   The second step is to complete the Industry Review to the Functional level or above. The Industry Review includes giving a short statement of the items of proof that you might have to show your Chartered competency for all Stage 2 Competencies. These statements must be confirmed by a suitable Industry Reviewer. Keep in mind that no real proof documents have to be submitted at this time in the process.

3.   Enroll and give your resume, payment and CPD Log. You have to confirm the practice areas you are looking for Chartered and also link your complete Industry Review to the application at this process point.

4.   The evaluators will then reach you for an Evidence Discussion (generally within a period of 3 weeks of your enrolment). The discussion is a chance to seek clarification and put up questions before you offer your proof documents for evaluation. The evaluators will have reviewed your Industry Review results and could suggest alternate proof be submitted then that suggested and will have a discussion about the Areas of practice selected. When the discussion is over, you will upload your proof documents. Sometimes, the evaluators could think that an Evidence Discussion is not important and will simply offer comments to this effect and ask for your upload based on the Industry Review you have.

5.   A Professional Interview will be fixed when your evidence document review and evaluation are complete and found satisfactory. The Interview will consume nearly an hour and will involve a broad discussion of the proof shown throughout your application. A presentation may be necessary and will be confirmed when arrangements are done. The interview will be taken through Skype or similar video-conference arrangements and will be with a minimum of one evaluator (it may also have external industry experts).

6.   After the interview, you will get an email notification that will confirm your Chartered award and Areas of Practice. An official Certificate will come into the email right after.

Keep in mind that steps 1 and 2 can be started when you are at the level of student/graduate or a non-member. Following the steps given here, you can become a CPEng Australia.
